I’ve been working on a story for a couple of months and had the germ of the idea for at least a year. While the MC is a man, there are two strong women in the story, and one is the nastiest villain I have written to date. For a long time I have wanted to write about a woman who traps a man using a fake pregnancy. I’m a feminist but I think this is one of the more despicable things a women can do to a man.
The story is set in Paris and is in the same “universe” as my first novel Hotel Deja Vu. In his search to find a boutique hotel to buy in Paris, Paul, a wealthy entrepreneur, stumbles across the improbable story of the artist Mere du Temps and the Hotel de la Roche. It’s not her very collectable art that grabs his attention but the outrageous idea that she used a portal in the basement of the luxury hotel to travel back in time to heal her broken life.
Paul begins to research the story as only a wealthy computer expert can and discovers that the idea isn’t just crazy, it’s also completely true.
He is desperate to undo something he did on a visit to Paris years before. He may have achieved incredible success in business, but he hurt someone who has never forgiven him and the pain has eaten them both alive ever since. So, under the guise of a business meeting at the actual hotel he bought, he takes interior designer June, the woman he hurt, to Paris. He thinks she will leap at the opportunity to go back and undo the event that bound them together but he isn’t prepared for her response.
That’s the basic gist of the short story but I’ve got myself all bamboozled. I feel like I have to start all over again, so that’s what I’m going to do. I will open a brand new document tomorrow and start from the beginning.
Yes, I do want to write this story! And I know from the feeling of terror I have right now about starting again, that this is precisely the thing I need to do!
Wish me luck!
