Bali and books

I’ll always find books no matter where I go. Oh, and yummy cake. I read three books in 8 days and edited over 50 pages of my own novel while on vacation. See what good can happen when we don’t have to go to work!

I’m home now…I’m happy to be home but now I have to do all those things I didn’t have to do on holidays – laundry, cooking, working, grocery shopping. I have to remind myself that all these things are life, not just the ‘fun’ stuff we actually want to do.

What I want to do, no, need to do, is spend more time on my fiction/creative writing and considering I just spent about an hour trying to work out why my Pinterest button isn’t working (cleared the cache, still not working…) I have bigger issues than cooking and grocery shopping. Once again, I’ve been spending too much time on the networking and ‘platform building’ and nowhere near enough on the actual foundations of my writing – daily fiction writing!

Even this blog has seen me ‘hiding in plain sight’, posting almost daily, checking my stats, spending far too much time here. It’s become my social-media addiction, checking for likes and comments, worrying if I’m writing the kind of content people want to read. A few days ago I thought, ‘oh I’m not really getting anywhere, I’ll just quit…’ but then I checked myself – when I started this blog I had a pretty loose goal – to write about creativity – and that’s what I’m doing. So yeah, I’ve done what I set out to do!

So…I took a couple of days and I’ve decided to simply post once a week. Very sensible… I only started posting daily because I had so much in my head that wanted to come out!
