Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?
I had four favourite books as a child and all of them seeds for my future.
Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans
In an old house in Paris
That was covered in vines
Lived twelve little girls
In two straight lines.
I loved this book as a little kid and it introduced to me my favourite city, where I am right now writing this—Paris!
The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf
I learnt what pacifism was from this book and like Ferdinand, I am a vegetarian. 🌱
Come over to my house by Dr. Seuss
This book introduced me to lots of different countries around the world and the different homes people live in. This taught me that not everyone is the same all over the world and we all live differently. It also informed my love of travel.
The fourth book is a bit odd but I love our set of World Book Encyclopaedia.
I think we were very lucky to have this set growing up and yes for everyone who’s ever asked me this question I have read the entire encyclopedia. 😆 I was obsessed with the art sections that had fold out colour plates of famous paintings such as The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch and Claude Monet’s Nympheas.
