Pulling weeds.

Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.

A year ago we bought a house. The previous owners had been very fond of their lawn and had top dressed to the point that the grass was covering the damp course. I organised a landscaper to come in and scrape away the layers so my house could breathe and put in gravel pathways. Then along the front I put in a wild garden full of herbs and flowering plants.

One of my absolute true pleasures is walking on that gravel path. There is something about the sound of footsteps on gravel… {could it be my soul remembering ancient pilgrimage? I like to think so.}

I’m not the best gardener in the world, but that little patch of wild brings me so much pleasure. It attracts birds, bees, butterflies, moths, and grasshoppers.

Sometimes just pulling weeds can bring me so much pleasure.

Most of the time I leave the weeds because they flower too and attract different critters to the garden.

I have two indoor cats and the orange one usually accompanies me out into the garden. He usually finds something to chase then settles into a sunny patch.

So many weeds…
