What I have learned this year #23

Last year I learned that I am not my body. This year because I am apparently a slow learner, I learned that I am not my thoughts either.

Our brain is an organ just like our kidneys or stomach and we don’t believe we are the urine we produce or the contents of our intestines.

Like our digestive system, our thoughts are essential but are not who we are. Plus WE CAN CHANGE THEM. How cool is that? If we don’t want to be, say, a total bitch, we can change.

We don’t have to follow the well-worn path through the forest. We can choose a new path. It’ll be hard at first and may require a machete but it’s worth it.

But the first step is to start telling ourselves the truth.

I’ve often said some people won’t let the facts interrupt their worldview. Love the comparison to the urine! How much easier it is to change our thoughts than any other part of our body though, right?

This is what I am going through right now, I know my thoughts are just passing by and I need to stop entertaining them, thank you for the reminder 🙂
